Some believes that platonic relationship is unimaginable because there will always come in their life when two friends will feel sexual intimacy. Some people, who are mostly men, say that sex cannot be conveniently eased out of the situation because there will be times when having sex would be difficult to avoid, especially if a boy and a girl like each other. A relationship, even if it starts out as platonic, would not really last long as soon as sex enters the picture.
However, this is wrong because platonic relationships do happen as there are really men and women who have been friends for so long without wanting to make love to the other. Between a man and a woman, friendship is the closest relationship they can have to being lovers.
There are really men who would rather have the girl as a friend because he treats her like a kid sister and there is no fire between them that will ignite sexual passion. Also, it is always possible that the girl is not the guy?s type, and has overly excessive standards for a girlfriend, which is why the girl cannot be sexually attractive to him. Furthermore, it can also be possible that the man has a girlfriend and the women also has a boyfriend, but they would find a certain closeness between them, a certain understanding or fondness that is completely different from the ones that they have for each other?s lovers.
Other experts even believe that the lack of belief in platonic relationships was spawned during times when women would stay at home while men would go to work, and the only way that they can get together was for romance.
Now, the demarcation line between sexual relationship and friendship has been blurred out by special relationships called ?friendship with benefits.? This means that a boy and a girl can be friends and sexual partners at the same time, especially if they have no other relationships and may just want to have plain old sex. This relationship does not limit each other from going out on dates with other people or entering into a serious relationship with others.
Has platonic relationship become a thing of the past with the dawning of the so-called ?friends with benefits?? It all boils down to respect and which prevents a man from having sex with his friend who may truly not be his type.
