From Harford County government:
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada, has announced that Harford County Government has received the GFOA?s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the FY 2013 budget.
The award represents a significant achievement by the Harford County Office of Budget and Management Research, which received the award for the 25th consecutive year. The award represents Harford County Government?s commitment to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To qualify for the award, the Office of Budget and Management Research was required to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well the budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications tool.
The GFOA also recognized the work of Kimberly K. Spence, Chief of the Office of Budget and Management Research for her efforts in directing the compilation of the Harford County Government budget document.
The GFOA recognized 1,328 various governmental entities throughout the United States and Canada for the fiscal period 2012. Those governmental bodies recognized with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the GFOA provide an excellent example for others to follow.
?Commenting on receiving the award, Mrs. Spence said, ??I am so proud of the hard work and dedication of the Budget Office team in producing this budget. This award demonstrates their diligence in ensuring Harford County is once again a recipient of this prestigious award.?
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving over 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA?s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
