CSN: Ravens plan improvements to stadium

The Ravens said Thursday that they're starting a two-year, $35 million project designed to upgrade M&T Bank Stadium.

In a statement released Thursday, the Ravens said they'll be working on improvements to video boards, concession stands as well as all of the concourses.?

The work is going to begin this spring, with "extensive upgrades" to the stadium's lower concourse and video boards, which are scheduled to be finished before the team's pre-season play starts in August.?

The next phase, which will focus on the upper concourse, is scheduled to start next year.?

?We are striving to make the fan experience at Ravens? home games and other stadium events the best it can be,? Ravens team president?Dick Cass?said in the press release.?This is something that the NFL emphasizes with all teams and has been a top priority for the Ravens since opening the stadium 15 years ago.?

The Ravens are going to be adding video boards in different spots in the stadium.?

All 16 of the lower concourse concession stands are going to be upgraded this year. The upper concourse concession stands are going to be made before next season. ?

The team is re-designing the concourses with what they call a "Ravenized" there. This is going to be influenced by the brick and steel look of the stadium's outside itself plus other Camden Yards buildings.?

All four retail stores inside the stadium are going to be remodeled, which should slightly increase the size of each and give a larger selection of merchandise for interested fans.?

There's going to be local artwork featuring the city and the Ravens which will be added throughout the concourses and interior. In 2014, stadium suites also are going to get upgrades.?

Finally, specialty areas, like the Bacardi Bar and Talon Pub on the lower concourse, are going to have renovations and design upgardes. They will be completed before the 2013 season starts. ?

?There is wear and tear that comes with every season, and these improvements will certainly benefit our fans and our business,? Ravens vice president of stadium operations?Roy Sommerhof?said. ?Our hope is to complete these projects over the next two years.?
