Japan ready to buy rescue bonds for Greece: Noda+

TOKYO, June 21 (AP) - (Kyodo)?Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda said Tuesday the Japanese government is ready to offer full support to Greece and other European economies mired in sovereign debt crises through such efforts as further buying of rescue bonds.

"We believe Japan was able to contribute to the financial stability in Europe through the purchases of EFSF bonds" to support Ireland and Portugal, Noda told reporters, referring to the European Financial Stability Facility, a bailout fund through which the eurozone issues bonds. "We would like to continue to make such responses," he said.

While the European Union and the International Monetary Fund are finalizing the terms of a new bailout for Greece, Noda admitted the finance ministers of the Group of Seven industrialized economies, which also include Japan and the United States, had held telephone talks although he declined to comment on the content of the discussions.
