Do lovebirds make good pets? - Pet care and feed

I am getting a lovebird in 3 weeks what should i expect. Also dont tell me to do research i have done enough of that i just want somebodies opinion.

Does any bird make a good pet? Can anything thats nature is to be wild and free be what any human considers a good pet?
They are unpredictable to put it mildly. Yes you are getting a lovebird, which is a less intense bird. I do believe that is as true as it is it is also very untrue. Any bird can be loud, annoying and downright frustrating. Oh sure the lovebird isn?t as loud as say a sun conure (I happen to have one yelling at me right now) but they do like to be heard.
And they can be territorial. Are you ready to deal with all of the curve balls owning a parrot is going to throw at you? Are you ready to dedicate hours and hours to this bird? I hate to sound like a downer but I firmly believe ALL boot entail bird owners should be warned fairly.
This isn?t like buying a dog, it?s not going to be blindly loyal. And it sure isn?t like buying a hamster, it isn?t meant to live in its cage all day.
You claim you?ve done your research. Do more. Your doing good by researching BEFORE you buy I applaud you for that.
But I?m not here to congratulate you, if you do everything right and patiently your reward will come in the ten-folds with what your lovebird will serenade you with.
You?ll have problems if you do it right. There will be times when you wonder if it was worth it. But if you deserve to own a bird you?ll know in the end it was totally worth it.
Best of luck~

Lovebirds are small, compact parrots about 5-6 inches in length.
Expected Life Span:

Up to 15 years or more.
Temperament:

Very active, curious, and playful, lovebirds pack a lot of personality into a small package. They are also feisty little birds. They are very social and form deep bonds with their owners and are sometimes very cuddly birds, but their intense personalities can also make them prone to nipping and territorial aggressiveness and jealousy. Hand-raised babies make the best pets. Some experts believe that females are more prone to jealousy and territoriality than males.
Find a Hand-Raised Baby:

Hand-raised babies definitely make the best pets. Still, regular handling and training are needed to maintain a tame lovebird (so a hand raised baby that hasn?t been handled much as it gets older may be hard to hand tame again). If getting an older lovebird try to find one that was hand raised and has been handled regularly and has some training. Older lovebirds that are not hand tamed may require a great deal of patience for taming.
Social Needs ? A Common Myth:

A common myth about keeping lovebirds is that they should always be kept in pairs. If you have more than one lovebird they may become more deeply bonded to each other that to you. A single lovebird will do well, as long as it gets the social interaction, contact, affection, and attention that it needs from its human family members. If you are short on time to spend with your lovebird, then it is best to get him or her a companion, though.
Vocalizations and Speech:

While not as loud as some larger parrots, lovebirds can produce a loud high pitched screech, especially if looking for your attention. Their normal chirps and squawks are not overly loud, but they do like to chatter. As a general rule, they are not known for their ability to mimic speech or sounds, although there are exceptions. Some say females are more apt to mimic sounds or speech than males.I have 4 of them

ABSOLUTELY YES they make good pets if you are getting ONE lovebird ..if you are getting a pair of lovebirds ..then it would be difficult to tame them.. i mean very difficult and once they are grown up they will love and give attention to each other..not you at all (my experienced )

i must say they are cute small fun package?A single bird will get more attached to its owner like mine lovebird do?she is extremely sweet and always comes to me wherever i am..but some people said to me single lovebird cant live without another lovebird and blah blah so i bought another lovebird for her ..the day another lovebird came to her life ..she forgets me :(

so i please suggest you if you want a great loving lovebird you should get only one ..and you will see how much she/he gonna loves you so much
and please dont listen to people who says you need to get 2 lovebirds or blah blah

LAST Be patient with your parrot It may need time to get used to new things and new people. Observe your parrot. You will then become accustomed to their behavior patterns and see their personality develop. lovebird can become extremelylovable, tame and trusting companions to their owners
BEST OF LUCK :)

They?re fun birds, if you can take some attitude. I definitely recommend that you buy a hand-tamed one ? Lovies pack quite the bite, and an untamed Lovebird can be a terror.

Basically: they?re smart, cute, opinionated, love sitting in the pocket of a sweater, beautifully colored, surprisingly loud for their size, rarely talk or sing, probably have the biggest beak for their size of all birds, form extremely strong bonds with other Lovies (so don?t get two unless you plan on being left out), love to shred paper, and are generally awesome. :-)

If you?re going to get lovebirds, it?s best to get 2 of them.

However, with any pet birds, they become dependant on you!
If you decide to get birds, they need attention, and lots of it.
Varying on the type of birds, it may be really hard on them if you go on a trip and leave them home.

I suggest you ask the pet store associate for their advice, as well.

u need two of them, you should get a cocktail instead to be honest
