I was thrilled to find this combination light/heater/fan/nightlight. It was round in shape which was the shape of the light I was replacing, so mentally I felt comfortable and prepared. It also seemed a lot nicer than a lot of the other ?contractor grade? light/fans I was coming across. Also .. I paid quite a bit of money for the QT version, which is supposed to be the deluxe quiet version of the two.
First complaint ? when you look up at the light, you can see EVERYTHING inside the unit. Every wire. Every duct. Every everything. It would be fine if I lived in a loft with exposed construction ? but this is just plain ugly. Plus I can only imagine in a few years once the dust starts to accumulate that it?s going to be a pain to keep clean. Take a good look at the photo of this unit. Those vents are very big and expose everything on the inside ? from every angle. And even moreso once the light is on and everthing is illuminated inside the ceiling.
Second complaint. It?s not quiet. The heater is tolerable (although not quiet) but the fan is downright loud. It even sounds like something is flapping around inside. My electrician says that?s just the way it is.
Two emails and a phone message to NuTone and I am unable to contact anyone about my disatisfaction. I get no response.
The fact that it only fit one way in my existing ceiling ? which pointed the heater away from my shower just adds to my frustration.
On the bright side, the heater is great. It takes a little while to heat up my bathroom, but we just duck out of bed, flip the switch and take a ten-minute snooze while it?s warming up.
so Buyer Beware. I am extremely disappointed with this unit. Do yourself a favor and visit a lighting store (not like Lowes or Home Depot) but a specialty store that would have a display where you could try different units and ask questions. I found one after I bought this ? and it was $300 poorly spent.
