Details are still scarce, but an Indiana teacher was placed on leave after he wrote a seemingly threatening message on the chalkboard during his class last week, NBC Chicago reports.
Lake Station Schools Superintendent Dan DeHaven said an Edison Junior-Senior High School teacher wrote the following message: ?A) You are idiots!!!!!!!! B) The guns are loaded!!! C) Care to try me ??????????
Students took a picture of the message on Friday and posted it on Facebook, DeHaven said. A school resource officer saw the Facebook photo and alerted the school. The teacher in question was reportedly sent home by 10:30 a.m. that day.
?We take this situation very seriously,? DeHaven said, adding ?safety is very serious to us.?
The superintendent told NBC Chicago that students were not in danger and an investigation is currently being conducted. School officials met with local police on Monday.
While the teacher had not been identified as of Monday afternoon, he is reportedly a business teacher who has worked at the school for 27 or 28 years. It is unclear why the teacher wrote the message.
Parents told NBC Chicago they want serious action taken against the teacher.
