OMAHA, Neb. -- Michael Phelps has dropped one of his races at the London Olympics, giving up the chance go for another eight gold medals.
Coach Bob Bowman tweeted Monday that Phelps was scratching the 200-meter freestyle, and the decision was confirmed by U.S. head coach Gregg Troy.
Phelps qualified in five individual events for London at the U.S. Olympic trials in Omaha, and he's expected to swim all three relays. But he's decided to focus on the 200 and 400 individual medley, and the 100 and 200 butterfly.
